STRAWBERRY FIELDS

OUTDOOR INSTALLATION IN BRUSSELS

MARCH 1 - 31, 2007

Strawberry Fields [ge.net.i.cal.ly mod.i.fied] is an installation of 250 strawberries on the trees located at Rue Montagne de la Cour, in the center of Brussels, behind the Magritte Museum. The strawberries are produced in wood from a model designed by Ali Cabbar, and then hand painted by the artist. The surprising location of the fruits while in one way “modifying” the urban landscape “genetically” and surprising the passerby, the real aim of the artist is to create a question mark in the viewer’s head about the presence of genetically modified products in our daily lives, their potential interests and dangers. The installation is a part of BrxlBravo art festival.
